In keeping with our commitment to the performing arts and the elevation of international productions, Flamenco Agency attended an online conference on February 11, 2026 to discuss the progression of dance productions, networking, and strategy, hosted by NRW landesbuero tanz.
The NRW landesbuero tanz is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. The landesbuero tanz is an international information centre, networking hub, and point of contact for the professional dance scene in North Rhine-Westphalia, and they host regular online conferences to discuss the future of professional dance, and to open the floor for networking opportunities for attendees.
There are typically invited guests who are professionals within the dance world, or who operate within similar fields, such as theater production or tours. The online conference also allows for a discussion section at the end, giving the floor to attendees who have questions for the hosts and invited guests of the conference.
This particular conference focused on networking and performance production on an international stage, featuring four speakers: Ginevra Panzetti, Enrico Ticconi, Katja Sonnemann and Stafean Schwarz.
All of the featured speakers emphasized the importance of persistent networking, the lack of funding available for many independent, international dancers and productions, and the necessity to keep programs alive through mutual artistic support.
Flamenco Agency does not only specialize in the art of flamenco, but also in the promotion of international awareness of this art. As such, the Flamenco Agency has a vested interest in international marketing and networking with groups such as the NRW landesbuero tanz, and with the aforementioned featured guests.
Stefan Schwarz, one of the featured speakers, spoke about the lack of funding available for international dance programs, and his project, entitled MODINA, in collaboration with the following groups: Tallinn University (Estonia); Soltumatu Tantsu Lava (Estonia); Hochschule Düsseldorf (Germany); tanzhaus nrw (Germany); ITI, IST-ID, University of Lisbon (Portugal); Kino Siska (Slovenia); Trafo (Hungary); and CNDB (Romania).
This project’s aim is to expand creative possibilities for dancers and performance artists, specifically in the contemporary field, in augmenting the experience for the audience, with the use of digital tools and technology, such as AI and audience interaction. The use of digital technology and tools is aimed at improving production and distribution, and at improving audience interaction with these artists’ works. Following the presentations of the featured speakers, the floor was opened up to discussions. As a prolific touring company, the issues of sustainability in our productions and touring is an important theme for us. Various attendees discussed the importance of reusing set designs, backdrops, costumes, and other production related items to improve sustainability and reduce waste. Another attendee emphasized the importance of longevity of productions, rather than continuously producing new productions for limited runs.
We at Flamenco Agency appreciate the emphasis on sustainability, and we are so happy to see discussions about sustainability and perpetuity featured on an international stage.
