This year, we have the pleasure of attending a conference held by Opera Europa, an organisation that unites 215 professional opera companies and festivals from 43 countries throughout Europe.
Whilst the offices are in Brussels, the meetings and conferences organised by Opera Europa take place in alternating member cities, with the upcoming conference being held in grand concert halls and opera houses across Prague, Czech Republic. The conference will last for three days, from 15th-18th June, and will see a selection of performances by Opera Europa members, as well as talks, presentations, and open discussions.
The conference also features an excursion to Litomyšl, the birthplace of Bedřich Smetana, one of the greatest composers of the 19th century and often regarded as the ‘father of Czech music’. This is also the home of Smetana’s Litomyšl, the second oldest music festival in the Czech Republic, and where Carmen will be being performed by Flamenco Agency’s Antonio Andrade Flamenco Company.
