As mentioned in our 2022 summary, Flamenco Agency is exploring how to be more envirionmentally friendly. We are introducing new ways and practices to make our dance tours more sustainable.
Therefore, the soloists of Barcelona Flamenco Ballet will travel to Praia, Cape Verde, to do a 2-week artistic residency thanks to the Festival Sete Sóis Sete Luas Cultural Network invitation, an organisation awarded with International Cooperation Prizes.
The main artists will arrive in Praia on January 16th and will stay there until January 29th, 2023. During that time the soloists will do 3 choreographic laboratories, dance projects and collaborations with local artists from 3 different islands around Cape Verde. We expect it will be an unforgettable experience!
We are considering smaller performance formats, involving fewer personnel and less material, as well as inivitatives such as spending additional time there, for a total of 2 weeks! We will travel between the islands by boat instead of flying.
The way this tour is designed implicates staying for longer and involves a combination of research, creation, production, presentation and/or networking activities, giving priority to trips that enable engagement with local artists and contexts.
That way, Barcelona Flamenco Ballet soloists will offer 3 performances at the end of each collaboration or exchange. We will keep you posted on our social media!
