Rafael Carrasco’s career has been anything but average. In 2024 Carrasco added the National Dance Award for Creation to her already impressive resume of world renowned original works and teaching experience within the world of flamenco. Carrasco’s original work “Nocturna” originally debuted in 2022, awarded as the best show at Festival de Jerez by the critic, immediately gaining attention in the world of performing arts for its poetic approach to the world of insomnia. Since its debut “Nocturna” has become a world renowned performance touring in dozens of countries!
As one of Asia’s most celebrated cultural events, this year, we return to the stage with a daring rendition of “Nocturna”. This production is a contemporary flamenco production that continues to captivate audiences around the world. “Nocturna” made a powerful impression at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival in 2023 and has since continued to evolve. Inspired by the poetry of night, its silences, mysteries, and dreamlike states, Carrasco’s creation blends traditional flamenco with avant-garde expression. It’s an emotionally charged journey that bridges the flamenco roots with its contemporary echoes.
