Ursula López & Andalusian Flamenco Ballet

Ursula Lopez

Ursula López will continue to direct the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet for the three or four years. Therefore, we will be touring with “Naturally Flamenco” and a new production, whose première will take place in Granada in July 2020. In addition, a new piece will be released for the 10th anniversary of Flamenco that will be presented as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

Ursula López graduated with an academic degree in Ballet, Spanish Dance and Flamenco from the Conservatory of Music and Dance of Málaga, Spain. She started her professional career at the age of 18 with the Opera “Carmen”. This play is directed by Carlos Saura and choreographed by Manolo Marín for the Festival de Spoleto of Italy. Moreover, she has been part of the Compañía Andaluza de Danza and Ballet Nacional de España, which led to establishing her own company in 2007.

At the beginning of 2019, she rejoined the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía as the artistic coordinator with the responsibility of choreographing. The production was called “Naturalmente Flamenco” for the Festival de Jerez. Last year, she was the artistic director and coordinator of the XXV anniversary of Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía. This event was held at Teatro de la Maestranza, with a compilation of the most emblematic pieces of the Andalusian company since its foundation in 1994.
