Gautama del Campo, the saxophonist of one of our most contemporary and unique productions, Flamenco Machine Project, performed as a support act for the Rolling Stones in Madrid on 1st June 2022.
Playing in the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, the home stadium of Atlético Madrid which has a capacity of more than 65,000 seats, del Campo was a guest musician for Vargas Blues Band, a group who draw inspiration from rock bands like Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Black Sabbath. This is the first date of a European tour dedicated to celebrating 60 years of the Rolling Stones.
Flamenco Machine Project, the four-piece group for which del Campo usually plays, combines music and dance to create a modern interpretation of traditional flamenco. They’re composed of a saxophonist, guitarist and dancer, and are also joined by the ‘flamenco machine’, a box-like, automated instrument which reproduces typical flamenco rhythms and brings a consistent beat beneath the melody.
The group will be performing at Sibiu International Theatre Festival in Romania from 30th June – 1st July this summer. Click here to find out more: https://www.sibfest.ro/en//events/salvaje-moderado.
