Flamenco Journey

Flamenco Journey is a showcase of the flamenco history articulated in the current farruca flamenco form. The audience is transported by way of cinematographic flashback to 17th century Andalucía. Here, came the birth of flamenco from a diverse mix of Moorish, Christian and Gypsy cultures and traditions.

The show weaves through the centuries — from dancing the 18th century fandango, to witnessing the use of the first batas de colas in the 19th century cafés cantantes, and to relive the momentous flamenco opera period of the 40s.

We go on to pay tribute to the most influential artists from the 50s until today: Antonio Ruíz Soler ‘El Bailarín’, Antonio Gades, Cristina Hoyos o Camarón and Paco de Lucía. The trip concludes with pieces by Enrique Morente, Estrella Morente, Niña Pastori, Miguel Poveda and David Palomar.
