Manuel de La Luz

The opening night of his new show at the 18th edition of the Flamenco Biennial of Seville 2014 established De La Luz as one of the best flamenco guitarists in the world alongside Tomatito, Dani de Morón and Miguel Angel Cortés.

This original production recreates the abundant knowledge of the author and the influence of great figures throughout the trajectory of his career. Through his instrument, the artist can transmit all his ambition and experiences, showing the possibility of innovation without losing the true essence of the flamenco music. He presents himself on stage with a trio format (De La Luz on the guitar, José Valencia on vocals, and David Perez dancing), or quintet (adding Cristian de Moret on the piano and Ignacio Vidaechea on the saxophone and flute).

De La Luz has accompanied singers such as Carmen Linares, Miguel Poveda or Arcangel. He is currently playing with La Susi and Lole Montoya. He has also toured worldwide alongside Eva Yerbabuena Flamenco Ballet, Joaquín Grilo and Manuela Carrasco. In addition, he has worked as musical director for the Andalucían Flamenco Ballet.

Among musical critics, it should be emphasised that he has been compared to Paco de Lucía: ‘the birth of a soloist’

The touch of this man born in Huelva is a combination between the best contemporary dance and the rhythmical baroque style characteristic of the genius from Algeciras’. Vergillos, Juan. Diario de Sevilla (26th November 2010).
