The World Roma Festival Khamoro on May 31st and June 1st 2024

Barcelona Flamenco Ballet’s Luxurîa has been touring all over the world with great success and will now be coming to Prague, Czechia at their 26th edition of The World Roma Festival Khamoro on May 31st and June 1st 2024. Attendees of the festival will be in for a treat as the art of Flamenco will be presented not once, not twice, but three times!

The World Roma Festival Khamoro is an annual festival that has no set venue, it brings art through various places within the city. The festival’s main purpose is to celebrate Romani music, representing an important part of the world’s cultural heritage. Flamenco, being closely associated with the gypsies of Roma ethnicity, slots into this festival perfectly.

Barcelona Flamenco Ballet will first begin with promotional activities at the parade in the city centre at 12:00 on the 31st of May. The opening parade of the festival is to be filled with music, dance and great fun as the people gather between the colourful baroque buildings of Prague to celebrate music.

Later on the same day, Barcelona Flamenco Ballet will perform Luxurîa at 19:00 at La Fabrika, a cultural centre in the Holešovice district of Prague. This performance is set to be incredible as it fuses together both modernity and tradition. The contemporary ballet also blends many music genres such as classical, jazz and Flamenco, keeping the audience’s attention engaged throughout the entire 60 minutes of performance.

To draw the group’s appearance at the festival to a close, Barcelona Flamenco Ballet will perform Luxurîa again the following day on the 1st of June, at SaSaZu in Prague. This venue is very unique as it is a restaurant and club venue in one. With its Asian-style lamps, SaSaZu will be an interesting backdrop for the art of Flamenco.

With regards to sustainability, as always, we have made the best effort to make our appearance as eco-friendly as possible. We have done this by creating a reduced version of this performance with nine people, rather than the usual fifteen and our road manager will also double up as the light technician. Furthermore, seeing as we are participating in the festival three times, rather than just once, we are reducing environmental impact.
