Two years ago in 2022, Barcelona Flamenco Ballet closed the 10th edition of the FemArt Festival with Luxurîa.
This year, they will be returning to Kosovo for the 12th edition of FemArt, but this time opening the festival with Carmen. This performance will take place on September 25th 2024.
Barcelona Flamenco Ballet is delighted to kick-start this incredibly exciting festival that celebrates feminism and sisterhood by serving as a platform that amplifies voices of women.
Carmen will be a great way to introduce this festival due to its corresponding messages. Whilst the original opera is very traditional, this Flamenco rendition represents Carmen as a woman of our time, showing the reality of contemporary society. It is a show against gender-based violence and a message of freedom and courage in the unequal world.
This performance is part of Carmen’s European tour to celebrate the opera’s upcoming 150th anniversary!
